Friday night Ye dropped a new single entitled "New Slaves" off his upcoming album entitled Yeezus. The song and video dropped world wide, premiering in various cities and projected onto the side of buildings. The beat for "New Slaves" was simple yet still managed to grab the listener's attention without taking away from the vocals. In the song Yeezy takes aim at corporations, stereotypes, the media, and popular culture in general, making for what might be considered concious rap (not on that Common level but respectable none the less). Ye pulls out all the stops in this one. He even puts on his best Drake impression (he left the Dada suit at home, thankfully and sings the song to it's close. I'm a giant KanYe fan, don't get me wrong, but that part definitely could have been left out... None the less Ye still manages to excite crowds for his June 18 release date. He's expected to drop more media in the weeks leading up to the album. Peep the song here...

Arrested Development is finally returning to the lime light (and it's about damn time!) after a 10 year hiatus, as a trailer for the new season has been released on IndieWire. The minute and a half clip shows the family getting into their usual antics and remaining and zany as always. The entire family is there with George Sr. seemingly out of the prison system completely. The new season even features some old cast members such as Kitty (with notably less deformed boobs this time), and even the quality of filming seems to have gotten better. All this is supposedly leading up to a feature film to be shown in theatres sometime in the future. Overall the new season looks just as hilarious as the last three. Season 4 is ONLY available on Netflix so if you don't have an account, I stongly suggest you borrow a friends or get your own. Peep the trailer below.....

Is Jay-Z a time traveler? Is he immortal?
This photo from the 1930s seems to suggest he may be in the "Best Rapper Alive" discussion for quite a while.
What do you think?

The lead up to Daft Punk‘s forthcoming LP Random Access Memories has taken a rather unconventional route. Denying interviews or any direct press coverage, the anticipation surrounding the release has come only via commercials aired during Saturday Night Live and guest artists on the album speaking on behalf of the duo. While we continue to speculate the release, what we do know is that Daft Punk has followed the paths of Kanye West, Bon Iver and Frank Ocean in working with acclaimed art director Nabil Elderkin. It’s still uncertain as to what the collaboration will hold, weather it’s a music video or a photoshoot, but by the looks of this teaser it looks to be fire.

His upcoming instrumentals mixtape, Mansions 2, rolls out a series of sticky, tactile, earbud-clogging showcases for his fine ear. "Valet Park, CA", the tape's opening track, rolls out a lot of tricks in two and a half minutes-- the otherworldly little vocal synth line, the smeared-slow outro, the nocturnal chittering panning from side to side-- proving that Spit, hermetic as he is, should really spread some of his production skills around.
